HOLY SCORPION

We had a visitor in our home last night!!!

The little scorpion, approx 2 inches long, next to Matt's giant watch for comparison
Say what you want about cats and cat people, but did your dog beat down and play with a scorpion last night until it was motionless and stiff to protect its family?! Probably not. Maggie probably had a blast last night beating this thing senseless with her paw and maybe biting it a little just to see what it tastes like until it was no longer fun for her. The little bark scorpion was in the middle of our family room floor and Maggie even posed for a trophy photo! Thank God for our pets, or at least the hunter ferrel kitty!

Go Sooners!

Sporting his new OU gear, flapping his arms in excitement
A rare but wonderful picture of the three of us!
Ellie and Elijah
We had our new friends, Julie and David, over yesterday to watch the Oklahoma Sooners beat up on Texas. Elijah and their daughter Ellie played and shared with one another very well. Ellie is almost 20 months old, so she did most of the sharing and Elijah just watched her every move. It's so great to make friends with new people and spend time together watching Texas get whooped!

Play Day

Reaching out for his bumble bee
Elijah's casual face

Taking a much needed rest after all that hard work
After Elijah's doctor appointment, we decided to hang out at home at play. Several weeks ago we started practicing sit ups and Elijah has been getting much stronger controlling his neck, so today we tried out his play seat again and he LOVED it! He even reached for some of the toys while maintaining his head and torso control.

Doctors Appointment

Examining the doctor while being examined
Elijah has been feeling a little under the weather the past couple days. To ensure he's not developing something that would hinder our upcoming plans, we went ahead and took the only appointment available. Elijah was a trooper and didn't fuss once! He was even smiling at the doctor! His current weight at 4 months and 1 week is 16lb 5oz and 26 inches! He is in the 66% for weight and 88% for height! We're so proud of how well he's growing and how strong he's getting. And the doctor said he looks like he just has a little cold (no ear infection). Great news.

Sunday Date

Showing off our OU outfit!

My lunch date at Cheesecake Factory! Yum yum!
Well, unfortunately we forgot that this weeks church service was a combined service at 10:30 instead of 11:00....so we missed it. The good news is that we ventured up to OKC for a family date day! Elijah was sporting his Oklahoma Sooners outfit at the Cheesecake factory! It was a great day, despite our missing Chaplain Rabe's last service.

Dinner Dates

The smaller of my two dates

But definitely more cuddly

The two most handsome men in Oklahoma

Elijah letting loose on our big night out
The two most handsome men in Oklahoma took me out on a dinner date Friday night. And to where you ask? The Dry Beaver Supper Club, one of our favorite nowheresville restaurants! Seriously, that's the name and the food is amazing!
We have been a bit nervous to try going out to dinner, as Elijah tends to get fussy around 5 or 6pm. It's not his fault....but it definitely puts a kink in dinner plans and date nights. To my surprise though, he fell asleep in my lap on Friday afternoon, then nursed, so I saw an opportunity! As soon as Matt came home, we ran out the door to dinner! Elijah was WONDERFUL! Now we know the recipe for success and it will hopefully result in more dates (as a family).

Playtime & Tummy time

Smiling for mommy during morning Tummy Time
Drool!!!
My very handsome boy

Tummy time with Daddy....very daring
We've been working really hard on tummy time and rolling over. Elijah is also pre-teathing now, so the drool is really pouring out when he's on his tummy. Matt works with Elijah a lot also, doing tummy time over him, which comes with risks, he says he's willing to take:) Nevertheless, Elijah is making progress fast and the same day Elijah laughed, he actually rolled over from his tummy to back, but we haven't been able to reproduce the action. Elijah is getting so strong now and holding his head up much steadier and for much longer periods of time. He also tries to push off of his toes, so I imagine that Army crawl movement that his friend Sonoma did may be his first means of transportation as well. Until then, I'm trying to enjoy the fact that when I set him down on the floor and walk away for a moment, he's in the same place I left him when I return! Something I shouldn't take for granted, or so I hear.

Church Going

Dressed to the nines again!

Elijah loves standing on the counter!

Relaxing with Daddy
Elijah is growing so quickly, it's hard to catch all the wonderful moments. That's one of the reasons why I'm so thankful I can spend this time at home with him. We have even been enjoying church as a family and Elijah seems to enjoy the music and friends. After church, we usually relax as a family and enjoy one another's company.

We Have Laughter!!!

Today, I came home and was fixing a late lunch/snack in the kitchen when Matt brought Elijah in and stood him on the counter. I started stomping my feet and making funny faces and Elijah started chuckling! Knowing that Matt is much sillier than I, we swapped places and Matt started dancing around and being silly. The laughter began and we even caught it on video!!!! WOO HOO! This was the best day ever!

Bath Time

Enjoying an evening bath

Comfy and cozy with our big bear towel
We have been experimenting with evening time baths. Elijah seems to enjoy them finally (he used to scream) and we even caught some excited yells on video. Now if I can figure out how to upload a video without youtube. We'll keep trying!

Jogging Stroller!!!

Trying it on for size in the family room
Such a big boy!

My favorite!

Passed out sucking his thumb on our walk this evening

A picture with Matt in it....just to prove he is here some of the time:)
WOO HOO! Our new jogging stroller arrived today and we were SUPER excited to try it out. Elijah seemed really comfortable lounging in it and we really enjoyed taking a short walk. Matt ran with it for a minute and liked it as well. I can't wait to try it out in the morning!

Sit-Ups

We've been working on doing sit-ups each day. Although he's not doing it alone, he's getting much better and his head control is greatly improved. Hopefully it's only a matter of weeks before he's able to sit up independently!

Football Saturday

Elijah, Matt and I enjoyed our Saturday together. After a wonderful workout, we all returned to the house and proceeded to enjoy some college football games. Elijah enjoyed it so much he pooped his pants, then pooped out for two hours!!! If only he would nap like that in his crib. We'll just have to keep working on that one.

Beat!

Elijah and I had a great rainy Friday. We created this blog and played on the playmat all morning. Unfortunately, Elijah has recently developed an aversion to napping, unless we're running errands, so by the evening it's near impossible to keep him awake.

Fro-Yo

After such a great workout, we decided to reward ourselves with some frozen yogurt at Orange Leaf. We even rewarded Elijah with a little taste. He loved it...just like his mommy! His favorite was wedding cake and was definitely not a fan of the coffee flavor.

Working Out

Thanks to Lindy, I can achieve a great workout WITH my stroller!

Working those back muscles

And laughing about it!
Elijah, Matt and I worked out last Saturday and really enjoyed it. I don't look like I'm having fun, but Elijah sure did!

Pool Time!

Grandpa working on hand eye coordination for increased dexterity;)
Borrowing Daddy's hat since Mommy forgot mine.

Trying to teach Elijah how to splash...not by mistake

Sad to be leaving
We went to Grandma and Grandpa's house in Georgetown, TX (just north of Austin) and had a great time! The weather was cool enough that we felt comfortable taking Elijah to the pool. Despite forgetting his sun hat (oops) he seemed to REALLY enjoy it! He's definitely going to be a water baby!!! Afterwards, Grandma and Grandpa had a fun time with him in the shaded area to the side. We love their resort...I mean neighborhood!

2 Month Shots

Passed out in his vibrating swing chair

Note the bandaids and half smile. What a trooper!

Cozy after bath time
Elijah got his first shots and was a serious champ, just like Daddy calls him. He slept most of the day, but was miserable through the late evening. We're not looking forward to the next shots, but I know he'll be tough again.
